Served 20 years in the Australian Army, deployed to South Vietnam in 1967 as an aircraft maintenance technician, and part time helicopter pilot. Following my military service, I was employed in defence contracting, involving heavy maintenance on RAAF aircraft. I retired aged 55 due to ptsd sustained in service in Vietnam. I met my wife while serving in Malaysia in 1969 and married in May 1970. We moved back to Australia in September 1971 and settled in Perth in 1977. My wife passed away on 02 September 2023.

I need to be very clear about something from the start. My life is not easy or typical due to an unfortunate allergy to light. This condition has already killed two marriages and I am honestly very uncertain about trying to find someone new. Not due to a fear of rejection, rather I don't feel I've the right to ask someone to upend how they live in order to accommodate my medical problems. As such, I need you to be very certain this is something you can live with, as I'm uncertain as to whether I can stand losing anyone else to this condition. If you're looking for the proverbial tall, rich and handsome, I am not for you. I'm 176cm, just able to scrape by week to week doing what work I can with the limitations of my medical issues. I'll leave it to you to decide the handsome part. I am lighter than I used to be, having lost 40kgs over the last two years, and hope to lose another 8kg. If you need someone to help your family, I'm afraid I cannot be the person for whom you are looking. I don't see myself travelling much, as to me there is little point in seeing the world when I am forced to spend most of the time in a hotel room. Travelling to see family may be an option, but that is something we'll have to deal with when and if the situation arises. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have in private messages
